SkenData Portfolio Energy – Net Zero in buildings insurance

Efficient, digital, transparent: SkenData Energy provides ESG data for building portfolios and supports sustainable reporting.

In order to implement the EU package of measures on sustainable finance, the European Green Deal and the German Climate Protection Act, there is an urgent need to determine the energy efficiency andCO2 equivalents of buildings. In order to achieve the climate protection target, energy efficiency class A or A+ according to the EU taxonomy must be achieved in the long term. This means new requirements for new and existing business for insurers, banks, asset managers and the housing industry.

SkenData is the German market leader in the automated calculation of the insurance value of buildings. In 2022, the company will start calculating the energy efficiency andCO2 equivalents of buildings with “SkenData Portfolio Energy”.

“In order to achieve the climate protection target, the requirements for new and existing business for insurers, banks and the housing industry must be rethought.”

SkenData Portfolio Energy

SkenData Portfolio Energy offers the output of sustainability information and energy efficiency classes for recording the energy efficiency andCO2 equivalents of existing contracts.

To ensure reporting in accordance with the

  • EU taxonomy,
  • Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR),
  • Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), but also
  • self-imposed corporate targets (e.g. Science Based Targets, Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance), and
  • of the European Central Bank (ECB) Stress Test

a systematic analysis of the EU taxonomy in existing buildings is required.

With SkenData Portfolio Energy, SkenData opens up an efficient recording and reporting process. This innovative tool provides banks, insurers, asset managers and the housing industry with a solution for the digital and automated determination and reporting of building portfolios in energy efficiency classes and CO2 equivalents.

Efficiency gains in the ESG alignment of building portfolios

Compared to manual determination by an energy consultant or the recording of scanned energy consumption certificates, the use of SkenData Portfolio Energy makes the main points immediately visible. At the same time, the solution speeds up the process of creating ESG reports for banks, insurers and the housing industry.

This not only increases cost-effectiveness. It also makes it easy to quickly adapt to new legal regulations and company-specific guidelines. Furthermore, the results can be transferred directly into the sales process.

SkenData Building Portfolio Analysis – Offline

In the first step of the product launch, SkenData Portfolio Energy will be implemented offline. This means that the user receives their enriched building portfolio in two simple steps:

  1. Upload building portfolio (as .xls or .csv file)
  2. Output of the enriched portfolio (incl. energy efficiency andCO2 equivalents)

SkenData Building Portfolio Analysis – Online

In a further development step, the determination of energy efficiency classes andCO2 equivalents will be even easier and completely transparent for the user via an online solution.

Here the user also receives clear feedback on their building portfolio after just a few clicks. The evaluation can also be output as a professional building report in PDF format or as an Excel list for further use.

The result can be classified according to energy efficiency classes andCO2 equivalent and transferred to a structured reporting system. All relevant data from the building portfolio is prepared and digitized for the customer. The customer can process the pre-structured data according to the defined requirements.

How data enrichment works

  1. Automatic georeferencing of the address
  2. Conversion of the address into an object-oriented 3D building model
  3. Automated calculation of the building geometry including heated surfaces and heated volume
  4. Calculation ofCO2 balances, energy requirements and energy efficiency classes using a recognized method (DIN V 4108-6 in conjunction with DIN V 4701-10)

Note: This method is permitted under the GEG (Building Energy Act) for residential buildings with normal indoor temperatures without cooling technology. With regard to data collection, simplifications of existing calculations are applied in accordance with Section 50 (3) GEG.
